Hey...the same was
even published in one of the recent issues of the Hindustan
Times, under 'Nation' section. I feel glad and contented of the
fact that there still are a few of us Sikhs who have outrightly
rejected to give in to the seemingly subtle jokes that so
'cleverly' hit our sentiments and are targetted at tarnishing
our image in the society. I personally never entertain jokes of
such sensitive nature, be them on
Sikhism, or any other religion for that matter. No matter the
religion, there always will remain a section of the more
'devoted' types who feel offended, or even intensely hurt at
times when their religion or the beliefs are questioned or
mocked at, in any which way! I think its about
time we all react...and for the ones who have still not
forgotten how our image directly roots back to the 'real pride
and jewel of nation',it is only fair such jokes and other acts
of insult are retaliated in a befitting manner!
Proud to be a Sikh, and look as one.

Hi All,
I appreciate such a step as it is required for the Sikh
community to try to make an end to such insulting public
gestures. I hate people like Khushwant Singh, who thinks
that appreciating and accepting such cheap
gestures broadcast the broad-mindedness of our
community. There are numerous joke books on Sikhs/Santa-Banta
written by this Sardar himself!!!
Just coz of such representatives of our community, the other
communities have such a casual approach towards our
religious sentiments.Jokes on Sardars are now common in most
of the parties. I, myself, have been laughed upon by my
colleagues whenever someone ends a joke on Santa-Banta.
Damed am neither Santa nor Banta, then y am i being
laughed?? Simple...coz i am a Sardar.Couple of years back
I used to accept such jokes in front of me..but then i started discouraging
such cheap gestures openly but politely and trust me guys..I
havn't been laughed upon by people for quite sometime now.We
should seriously think over and participate actively in
making an end to such Racist behaviours towards Sikh
religion.
I wish Good luck to Sohni Jodi team and appreciate their
efforts put in by them.
Proud to be a Sikh.

This is serious. Not only because the outspokens deserve to
be taught a lesson, but
also because such racist comments and remarks are causing
severe damage to the
self-esteem of our brothers and sisters, who have yet to
identify themselves as
'who' they really are! Regretfully enough, before the right
messages are conveyed to
them by their own community (thanks to the so-called
official preachers who seem to
have gone on 'hibernation' mode forever!), the remaining
socitey starts bullying
them and they are left with no choice but to start feeling
ashamed of their own
looks and easy identification as 'Sikhs'! Retaliating in the
form of comments could
be one way to teach both the doers (of this act) and
non-doers (of our qaum) a
lesson.
A few minutes devoted to the cause
that needs your support will be a good
idea!
Pensively yours

We Sikhs have decided to forward
details of people who are writing Sikh/Sardar/Santa banta
jokes to cyber crime branch to be prosecuted under
section 295 of IPC. So we must say to you to stop this kind
of religios abusings. If you want to make your career just
stop making fun of people on the basis of any religion. We
hope that you are aware of the fact any criminal case
against you will kill your career and trip outside India.
Harry
At the very outset I would like
to congratulate you and other members of your team who are
doing a wonderful job for the sikh community. It is very
unfortunate that our community does not have any good leader
who can take our problems to the Indian as well as the
Overseas Governments.
I have seen that there are more liquor, and barber
shops in
Punjab than anywhere else. Our
Punjab used to be Number One in every field and now
it has become Number One in smoking and all kinds of "Nashas".
The Jat sikh now do not work in the fields and prefer to
have a drink than a glass of milk. If the same
situations remains for another four or five years, I am sure
Our Punjab state will be worse than the Bihar state.
Biharis are becoming rich and rich everyday by putting hard
work and Punjabi jats are spending their money on "illegal
things".
I have seen "Sikh outside India" are more religious than the
people who are in India. Now it is the right time that
we should encourage the NRIs to come back to India and
contribute to the growth of
Punjab. They can fight local elections, they can set
up industries in
Punjab that will generate employment to the local
people. I have seen that
Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, who used to be part of
our
Punjab have shown more growth than our
Punjab. The situation in
Punjab is
becoming worse everyday. The roads are bad, the Punjab
Roadways buses are ugly. It looks that no money has
been spent for repairing the roads.
I was looking for a Jat Sikh match .I am sorry to inform
that I could not find any well educated person in whole of
Punjab. The boys which I could find were more
eager to go to
Europe,
USA or
UK legally or illegally.
I think whatever you are doing is a great job and in case I
will be able to contribute something to this, it will be a
pleasure for me.
With best wishes,
D S Gill
