First session of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World Sikh University will begin in 2009. SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said this while talking to reporters at Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib, adding the construction work for the university would begin soon.
“The construction would be done in a phased manner and it would be completed in the coming few years,” he said.
Refuting all the allegations levelled upon the former Punjabi University VC, Dr. Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia, who was now appointed as the VC of World Sikh University, he said no allegations were proved against Ahluwalia.
Ahluwalia was member secretary of the trust and has been appointed as the first VC of the university for a period of five years. The proposed university would come up in 84 acres of land in Fatehgarh Sahib.
Replying to a question, he said there are no talks going on with the Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh.
“There is no question of compromise with the dera head nor have we decided to talk to him,” he said.
Later on, professor Kirpal Singh
Badungar presented a book, to Makkar, written by him on gurmat
sabhyachar.
